Ruth Hedges is a freelance radio producer and writer. She produces two weekly shows for BBC’s 1Xtra – 100% Homegrown Mix Show and the UKG Mix Show, and is currently making a documentary for BBC Radio 4, scheduled for late 2008.
She specializes in the arts and current affairs and writes for The Times, TES, The Herald, New Statesman online, Blueprint, The List and 8 magazine, and has reported on issues from Beeston in Leeds to Bucharest, Romania. Now based in London, Ruth was assistant editor on The List - Scotland’s arts and entertainment magazine - for three years and helped launch MAP magazine, a visual art magazine for Scotland and winner of Best New Magazine, PPA Scotland Awards 2005.
Ruth also worked for two years with Headliners, UK’s only news agency for young people, making podcasts and short videos with teenagers around London on their lives and the issues surrounding them.
